Tyson Foods Promotes Doug Ramsey to President, Poultry Operations

Springdale, Ark. – April 11, 2017 – Tyson Foods, Inc.’s (NYSE: TSN) chief operations officer, Noel White, recently announced the promotion of Doug Ramsey to president of Poultry Operations, overseeing the company’s poultry business units. Ramsey succeeds White, who was promoted to chief operations officer in February.

Universities Partner to Create Dual Poultry Degree

Officials from Arkansas State University and the University of Arkansas have partnered to create a new dual degree option for students who are pursuing a degree in poultry science.

School officials signed a joint memorandum of understanding (MOU) to establish a "3+1" dual degree program in poultry science involving both universities.

USDA Expands Meat & Poultry Hotline Hours to Further Provide Food Safety Information to Consumers

WASHINGTON, April 3, 2017 — The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) today announced that it is increasing the delivery of safe food handling and preparation information by expanding the hours of its Meat and Poultry Hotline and Ask Karen chat services. As detailed in the Agency’s 2017-2021 Strategic Plan, FSIS is focusing on the reduction of foodborne illness, and one way to contribute to that reduction is to increase public awareness of safe food handling information.

Novozymes and Boehringer Ingelheim Announce Strategic Collaboration in Probiotics for Poultry Hatcheries

Duluth, U.S. & Copenhagen, Denmark – March 30, 2017 – Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health and Novozymes today announced a strategic collaboration to develop and commercialize probiotics for global poultry production. The parties will focus on developing products for hatcheries, the facilities where eggs are hatched before the chickens move to grow-out farms. As part of the agreement, Boehringer Ingelheim will market and distribute Novozymes’ FloraMax® probiotic product for the U.S. poultry industry. Boehringer Ingelheim plans on expanding to other markets globally in the coming years.

TPF Announces Agenda & Speakers for Upcoming Food Safety Conference

March 29, 2017 - LITTLE ROCK, AR - The program and speakers for the 2017 Food Safety Conference has been finalized with Cory Hedman, Vice President, QA/Food Safety of Meijer Supermarkets as the retail keynote speaker and Ernie Meier, Director of Quality, Poultry Supply Chain of McDonalds as the food service keynote speaker.

The conference is scheduled for April 12-13 at the Hilton Branson Convention Center in Branson Missouri. The two-day conference will highlight food safety issues through the farm to the table focusing on topics specific to the broiler and turkey industry. Attendees will participate in presentations from food safety experts in the industry, academia and government, as well as collaborate with colleagues regarding current challenges.
