Wayne Farms Unveils Culinary Innovation Center

Wayne Farms LLC announced the launch of a $4.5 million research and development facility in Decatur, Ala., to help foodservice and retail customers hone their product development efforts.

The Wayne Farms Customer Innovation Center is located adjacent to the company’s Decatur East and West prepared foods facilities and equipped to take new products from concept to center-of-plate entrées on site, the company said.

“Our customers are some of the largest food service and restaurant brands in the country -- that’s a very competitive marketplace, and our Customer Innovation Center will help them be even more competitive,” said Clint Rivers, president and CEO of Wayne Farms. “We can work directly with our customers to develop amazing poultry products tested and ready to go into immediate production — a significant advantage when they go to market with a new concept or product.”

The 15,000-square-foot facility features new food and culinary technology and includes ready-to-eat and ready-to-cook pilot plants, an “ultra-modern” culinary kitchen, a conference room with the latest digital technology, and an open workspace environment for administrative staff.

Wayne Farms, based in Oakwood, Ga., is the sixth-largest vertically integrated poultry producer in the U.S. with annual sales exceeding $2 billion.
