HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – On July 17, Aviagen® welcomed Sallie Starks as its new Vice President of Finance. Starks is an accomplished financial and strategic leader with a proven track record of strengthening the financial sustainability and effectiveness of businesses. Reporting directly to Kevin McDaniel, president of Aviagen North America, Starks is based at the corporate headquarters in Huntsville, Ala.
Starks is responsible for recommending and developing policies, procedures and systems to meet company objectives, which include internal and external reporting, as well as design and development of internal controls processes to ensure accuracy of accounting and reporting. She also ensures financial policies and procedures are aligned with company objectives and works to improve the financial performance of the business as a whole.
She has amassed a considerable background in the financial world, serving as the Chief Financial Officer for Precision Die Casting (former Finance Director of Sensus Precision Die Casting); Controller for Martinrea International’s Tennessee facilities; and most recently, Chief Financial Officer for Conner Industries, Inc. of Fort Worth, Texas. She also gained insight into animal genetics through her nearly 20 year tenure at PIC North America. She holds a B.S. in Accounting from Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green.
