The Poultry Federation (TPF) was proud to attend the 91st Annual Missouri FFA State Convention. The convention was held on April 25th-26th, 2019 at the University of Missouri Hearnes Center. Missouri FFA has 25,375 members representing 347 chapters.
TPF participated in the Missouri FFA Convention Career Show on Friday, April 26th, 2019 in the Hearnes Center Fieldhouse. Eugene Wickham, Flock Supervisor for Cargill’s California, Missouri operation was on site representing TPF along with John Bryan, TPF Missouri representative.
FFA members were educated on the opportunities and careers available in the poultry industry in Missouri. The winner of the Choose Poultry Student Giveaway was Luis Barrett-Neosho FFA.
Students also competed in Poultry Career Development Events (CDE) while at convention. During this CDE, the poultry teams evaluate, identify and present their findings on live production hens, ready-to-cook turkeys, processed poultry products, cartons of eggs, and broiler parts. In addition, a multiple-choice test and a problem-solving section on poultry management and production are included in the scoring.
Winners of the Poultry Evaluation CDE include-State Champion Team-Paris FFA, team members include Marlena Long,(1st place) Adam Forrest(13th place), Molly McGee (17th place), and Erin Heinecke (46th place), 2nd Place Team- Mount Vernon FFA-team members include Kale McElroy (3rd place), Colt Veith (7th place), Sydney Anderson (25th place), and Chance Gibson (39th place), and 3rd Place Team- Neosho FFA-team members include Megan Geller (6th place), Clara Keplar (10th place), Brittany Winchester (12th place), and Kayla Bach (67th place).

In addition to CDE’s, students competed in Poultry Production Proficiency Contests. Proficiency awards recognize FFA members who excel as agricultural entrepreneurs, employees or volunteers while gaining hands-on career experience.
Winners of the Poultry Production Entrepreneurship and Placement Combined Proficiency Award include- State Champion-Dustin Davies-Braymer FFA and 2nd Place- Dayton Armstrong of Buffalo FFA.
