Poultry Processors Workshop & Supplier Showcase Scheduled for Processing, HACCP, QA, Environomental Staff, and Purchasing Personnel
The 2012 Annual Poultry Processors Workshop co-hosted by The Poultry Federation and the University of Arkansas, Division of Agriculture, Poultry Science, will be held October 3-4.
The two-day educational event addresses current issues for the poultry processor including HACCP, QA, and environmental personnel.
The Supplier Showcase portion of the workshop is the largest local tradeshow for poultry processors and purchasing personnel to attend.
The first day of the conference will be held at NWA Convention Center in Springdale, located adjacent to the Springdale Holiday Inn at 1420 N. 48th St.
The second day of the conference will be held at the University of Arkansas, Center of Excellence for Poultry Science in Fayetteville, beginning with an omelet breakfast hosted by the Poultry Science Club.
The conference continues its long-standing tradition of bringing together poultry processors and industry experts to discuss everyday issues of the poultry industry.
Human Resources, Water Conservation, Sanitary Dressing Procedures, Biomapping, and Total Plant Recycling are just a few of the topics to be addressed at the educational conference on Wednesday.
Other activities include a reception with door prizes, during the Supplier Showcase, casino night, and a golf tournament.
The Supplier Showcase and reception has always been a key event and well attended throughout the years.
Tom Elam – Workshop Speaker
Tom Elam is an Agricultural Economist with FarmEcon, LLC, and is an Associate Lecturer in Economics at the Indianapolis branch of Indiana University. He is well-known and respected in the poultry and egg industry for his expertise in agricultural issues and economic research. Elam’s topic is Protein Outlook. He has a BS degree in Economics from Union University in Jackson, Tennessee (1969) and MS (1970) and PhD (1973) degrees in Agricultural Economics from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
Lt. Governor Darr – Luncheon Speaker
Lt. Governor Mark Darr took office in January 2011 as the state’s 15th Lieutenant Governor. He is the youngest Republican to be elected to a statewide office in Arkansas. Darr is a strong advocate for government transparency and economic development. Darr is a successful small business owner and lifelong resident of Arkansas.

Conference registration fee is $60 for TPF members; $75 for non-members; $25 for university personnel; students are complimentary. Onsite registration is available for $15 additional charge. Registration includes all meetings and associated meals. Exhibitor table top space fee is $100 for TPF members; $200 for non-members. The workshop golf tournament will be held at Springdale Country Club on Thursday, Oct. 4 at 1:00 p.m. Individual entry is $100 per person or $400 per team.
