Our sympathy is extended to the family of Hillman Koen, former TPF Board member and chairman, who passed away today at the age of 84.

Mr. Hillman Koen 84, of Hope, Arkansas passed away Monday, April 23, 2012 in Hope, Arkansas.
Koen was a highly successful poultry grower for several years. In 1965, he set up Koen Farms Inc. and was owner/president of its egg operation for years. He was also a member and deacon at Unity Baptist Church.
His community service includes the presidency of Arkansas Egg Council Board of Directors in 1972; the presidency of the Poultry Federation, 1985; and the chairmanship of Arkansas Livestock & Poultry Commission in ’87-’89. Koen was the federation’s “Man of the Year” in 1983. He was active in many national egg and poultry industry organizations and helped numerous young people obtain an agricultural education.
He was inducted into the Arkansas Agriculture Hall of Fame in 2002.
Mr. Koen was preceded in death by his wife Jean M. Koen; daughter, Donna Koen Randle; brother, Ross Koen; sisters, Virginia Allured and Josephine Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Frances Triplett Koen; one son, Ken Koen; two daughters, Jeanine Bonner (Gerald) and Lora Koen (Terry); step children, James Triplett (Kathleen), Gloria Dillard (Arthur), Janet Langmead (James), Phyllis Fry (Eddie), Robert Triplett, Patricia Gilbert (Charles), John Triplett, Teresa Deck (Leon) and Larry Triplett; grandchildren, Christy Cook (John), Ted Bonner (Courtney), Jonathan Bonner (Lisa), Kevin Koen (Renee), Aaron Koen and Rachel Randle; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren and sister, Augusta Boatright.
Visitation will be Wednesday, April 25, 2012 between the hours of 5-7 pm at Herndon-Pharr Funeral Home.
Services will be Thursday, April 26, 2012 in Unity Baptist Church at 2:00 pm with Bro. Glen Tropp officiating, interment to follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Herndon-Pharr Funeral Home.
