Monty Henderson Appointed to AR Livestock and Poultry Commission

Monty Henderson, George’s, Inc., Springdale, AR, and Immediate Past Chairman of U.S. Poultry & Egg Association, has been appointed to the Arkansas Livestock and Poultry Commission by Governor Mike Beebe.  The Commission’s purpose is the safeguard human and animal health, assure food safety and quality, and promote the Arkansas livestock and poultry industries.

“I’m honored to be appointed to the Arkansas Livestock and Poultry Commission – it does important work for our state’s poultry and livestock industries,” Henderson said.  “I have been involved in the poultry industry most of my life, and I look forward to the opportunity to serve as a member of the Commission.”

Active on the board of directors of USPOULTRY for several years, Henderson served as chairman in 2009.  He also serves as current chairman of the U.S. Poultry & Egg Harold E. Ford Foundation, which is administered by USPOULTRY.  The Foundation provides funds for industry research and student outreach programs.

A graduate of the University of Arkansas with a BS degree in agribusiness, Henderson began his poultry career as a broiler service manager with Tyson Foods.  He later was broiler grow-out manager with Campbell Soup Company.  He moved on to Pilgrim’s Pride Corporation where he was live production manager and senior vice president, and subsequently president and chief operating officer.  In 1994 Henderson joined George’s, Inc.  He was president and COO until his retirement last year.  Henderson  remains with George’s as an advisor.
