Grammy Award and Dove Award winning American country singer, Randy Travis, will be the main entertainer at The Poultry Federation’s 51st Annual Poultry Festival concert on Saturday, June 12 at the John Q. Hammons Convention Center in Rogers, AR. The announcement was made by Marvin Childers, President of the tri-state poultry and egg association. “We are proud to sign a well-known musician of this high caliber, such as Randy Travis, as our main headliner for our annual festival,” stated Childers. “He is multi-talented and will bring a riveting performance for our industry members and friends. He performed for our members in 1987 and we’re happy to bring him back.”
Randy Travis has been active in the music industry since 1985 and has recorded more than a dozen studio albums with thirty singles appearing on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. Sixteen of these thirty singles have reached the Number One place. Some of these songs being: Diggin’ Up Bones, Forever and Ever, Amen, I Won’t Need You Anymore (Always and Forever), Too Gone Too Long, I Told You So, and Deeper Than the Holler. Most recently, country musician and American Idol winner, Carrie Underwood paid homage to Randy Travis by re-making his 1988 hit single, “I Told You So”. In addition to singing, Travis holds many acting credits, appearing in several movie and television roles, occasionally as himself. An opening act has been added to this year’s Festival concert on Saturday night prior to An Evening with Randy Travis. “Nik and Sam,” Country music artists (with a blended twist of Blue Grass, Folk, and Pop) from Dover, AR, are scheduled to perform. Singing from the time they were crawling, both have played musical instruments since they were 10 years old. Sam on the banjo and Nik on the guitar. Since then they’ve added the dobro and mandolin.
