What is the Annual Poultry Festival? The Poultry Federation organization hosts an annual festival for the poultry and egg industry members and friends. It is a celebration of the poultry and egg industry and this year marks our 51st year of celebrating! The festival is produced primarily through cash sponsorships and in-kind donations from the community and businesses. The generosity of sponsoring businesses, civic organizations, and volunteers make the festival an industry and community affair and it continues to be a highly anticipated event each summer.
Fifty-one years ago we were celebrating our first Annual Poultry Festival. It was and still is a celebration of an industry that has a huge impact on the state and its economy and employment. You might have attended one of these memorable festivals where people from all over the state joined in the fun and festivities. A “Miss Poultry Princess” beauty pageant was held, and at one time the finalists even claimed a spot in the Miss Universe pageant! A “Cookin’ Queen” contest was the highlight for many attendees, sporting tournaments were held, and the weekend event always ended with a live performance with musicians such as Kenny Rogers or Willie Nelson. At our 25th Annual Festival Conway Twitty was the headliner.
This year we are celebrating our 51st Annual Poultry Festival in Rogers, Arkansas! We do not have a pageant or Cookin’ Queen contest anymore but we do have plenty of sports tournaments, barbecue contests between our members, a state-wide 4H cook-off for our youth, a Ladies Luncheon, and an annual live and silent scholarship auction. We invite our members and the community to participate either by purchasing a ticket or becoming a sponsor.
Come join us June 11-12, 2010, Rogers, AR.
