(Little Rock) – U.S. Senator Blanche Lincoln, D-Ark., Chairman of the U.S. Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry, hosted an Agriculture and Business Leadership Breakfast on Tuesday, November 25, examining the impact of U.S. Agriculture, Rural Development and Forestry policy on Arkansas’s rural and small business economy. More than 100 Arkansans attended the event.
“Agriculture is the backbone of Arkansas’s economy and many of our state’s producers are facing difficult times,” Lincoln said. “Today’s event was an opportunity to hear first-hand from various segments of the agriculture industry and business leaders on steps we can take to put our economy back on the right track. This is my number one priority and I will use my Chairmanship to reverse the devastating effects our ailing economy has had on Arkansans.”
On Monday, Lincoln held a Senate Agriculture Committee field hearing on “Revitalizing Rural America.” The Committee heard testimony from three panels on the importance of production agriculture to the rural economy, improving rural infrastructure, and successful community and economic development initiatives. The hearing was hosted by the University of Arkansas Clinton School of Public Service at the William J. Clinton Presidential Library in Little Rock.
